This was an interesting experiment, but as would be expected, the original design turned out to be a better solution. My ASA warping problem ended up not being due to bleed air coming off the hot end fan. It had to do with the wall thickness of the part. I also started to get Klipper shutdowns...
Are the holes that bleed air from the hotend fan into the part cooling ducts critical for nozzle cooling? I removed them, but don't want to risk thermal runaway or heat creep. I will re-calibrate the PID for the nozzle and then keep an eye on temps. I can always add them back if needed.
The hotend assembly on the Stealthburner for the Phaetus Rapido 2.0 causes air from the hotend fan to blow on the printed part. When I print tall single-wall parts with sparse infill using ASA, I need cooling to be 0% or else the walls will warp. The leakage is due to the rib that wraps around...
It seems that any cooling at all makes the problem worse on thin walls. With that in mind, I did some probing around my nozzle with a down feather and found that the hotend fan is exhausting air down and onto the part. I am going to examine the Stealthburner and see if the combination of that...
Thanks, I will try some cooling to see if it helps. I did another test with two walls instead of one, and it came out substantially better. I cannot use that profile on an airplane due to the doubling of the weight, but I believe it tells me that the warping is not entirely due to the...
Polymaker ASA recommends 75-90 degrees for the bed. But it was a good idea, so I tried to print the same part at 250/110 with several sweatshirts draped over the panels and was able to get the chamber up to 60C. Unfortunately, the warping looks about the same. I have to wonder whether the...
Thanks for taking the time to reply. My question is not how to increase chamber temps, but whether doing so will solve my particular warping problem. I would normally "just try it" but I don't want to invest $100-$200 to get a 20 degree increase if it is not going to help. I have read about bed...
I exclusively print R/C airplanes with my Voron 2.4 and would really like to use ASA due to its impact strength, temperature resistance, and slightly lower weight compared to PLA and PETG. Using Polymaker ASA at nozzle/bed temps of 240/90, my chamber reaches a passive steady state temperature of...
Thanks for the response. Since I am using CNC parts, nothing would collide before derailing. I think the easiest thing will be to print a small plate that I can attach to each of the four vertical extrusions right at the top of the rail. If it is a bit thicker than the rail, it will collide with...
First post, first Voron build, first everything. I just got my gantry's z belts installed and I noticed that if there were to be a catastrophic misconfiguration on my part, my gantry could derail itself in the max z direction. I understand that Klipper has a stepper_z_position_max setting to...
