You only need to remove the drag chains and add a tophat (if you want to print enclosed), if you want to use "full" height.
So I made and recommend this 😀
On most of the voron parts tensile strength isn´t very important, as long as the layer adhesion doesn´t get too bad (like the ABS+ stuff
).
Furthermore some materials even creep at room temperature. See CNC-kitchen´s build of his Voron 0 a few years ago;)
I got the same experience...
Hey, I like this idea, but:
Can you test, how it will perform (or creep) under realistic long-term conditions?
I mean, one of the biggest issues with plastics (imho) is creeping and not the properties i could find in the common datasheets.
The chamber of my V0 gets over 70°C (measured in the...
I had the same issue with the Bondtech gears.
They were even the worst I´ve tested (uniformity of extrusion).
You can extend the flat spot with an angle grinder ;)
If you want to order new parts, I recommend looking at Mellow on aliexpress, they never disappointed me.
Nice Idea!
Does it monitor the bed temperature to prevent cooling it too much?
I use Bedfans on my V0 and have to regulate them carefully by myself to keep the Bed hot enough...
The magnetic sheet from the formbot-kit works fine until 115°C (on the print surface, NOT on the underside of the heating pad...), above that the magnetism decreases permanently.
The heating pad itself should withstand at least 150°C.
There are more heat resistant magnetic sheets out there and...
I reached the 300 in height with a tophat and removing the cable-chains (CAN-Bus) (2.4 300)
At the moment it´s limited by the length of the linear rails. Moving them a bit up should get some additional mm:D
