General Voron extruder information

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to make some small modifications to the Voron extruder, and I have a couple of questions:
  1. Is the extruder responsible only for feeding the filament, or does it also contribute to the movement of the printhead?
  2. Could someone please explain how the extruder is mounted to the belts, and how the belts are used to move the system?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I think there may be some misubnderstanding or language barrier. Do you mean extruder, toolhead, or other component?
Extruder is the machinery which pushes filament. VORON has direct feed extruder like Clockwork, Galileo; as well as bowden typer extruder, Mobius.
Hotend is the hot piece of equipment which melts the filament. Extruder pushes filament to the hotend where it gets melted. VORON does not make its own hotend, but you can buy many available on the market.
Toolhead is the 'thing' which mounts to the X carriage, and has hotend, extruder, fans, electronics etc.
Belts are secured to X carriage.

What exactly do you need to modify?

I recommend you read some articles about 3D printing, or watch few videos explaining basics of 3D printing, to get the terminology, motion system basics and such. VORON uses CoreXY motion system. CAD files to see how belts are connected to X carriage and how toolhead mounts are available on GitHub.
https://github.com/VoronDesign under each printer is CAD directory with (usually) Fusion 360 or STEP files.
