Can i use a omron inductive probe with EBB36 Can?

After not being able to get my omron probe from my formbot kit to trigger correctly i realised it is spect for 10v-30v, the EBB36 has 12V for fans etc but the other ports only have 5v. Is there a way i can connect it directly to the ebb36 or is the only way to run the three cables threw the umbilical cord directly to my Octopus v1.1?

Just use the 12v and ground from a fan, and run a separate wire to the probe pin.
