I'm still using the inductive probe that came with my Formbot kit. It works really well. The only reason I was thinking of switching is to allow printing on different surfaces.
I am currently building a new Stealthburner toolhead using CAN. I will attemp to use the BIQU probe with the new...
As twiget suggested, I expect with your background, you would be fine to do the upgrades up front. I built mine from a Formbot kit and I also built it stock at first. 2.4 R2 with Afterburner and a Dragon HF hotend. I LOVE this unit. I have almost everything to switch it to a Stealthburner...
The print came out fairly nice. Tuning I'm sure would improve it. I'm not putting too much time into re-tuning. I'm in the process of building a Stealthburner toolhead with CAN and will be installing it next. I am short a few little items to complete it. I am not in a rush to change it...
Your plan sounds like a lot of fun project. I can honestly say I am happy with the speed of my Formbot build. Mine, being a 350 x 350, I don't really want to push it faster. I'm planning on a v0.2 build in the near future. Being lower mass, maybe its speed can be tweaked up?
The cable chain that came with my Formbot kit, purchased at the end of Nov 2022 are good quality and have been running well. I can't think of anything that would be better, other than going to CAN and eliminating them. I am moving towards installing CAN, but the Formbot kit is working fine...
I jumped out of my comfort zone with slicer software. I have been running Cura for many years. I have installed SuperSlicer. My first ever print with it is running as I write this. It is a Voron cube. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
The Creality Ender 2 Pro is a cute machine, I would still like to build the printer. I enjoy the build process. I'm still leaning towards the Voron 0.2 unit.
Creality has the Ender 2 Pro for $99 at the moment. I'm hoping to see a President's Day sale on the v0.2 at a price I can't turn...
I have a number of 3D printers. All are too large for traveling in our Travel Trailer. I was thinking of a V0.2, but this might still be too large.
Anyone with experience traveling and using a 3D printer on the road, I would enjoy hearing your thoughts.
On the top of my Nevermore, it shows 150 hours or every 30 days. So, if it ran for 30 days straight, that would be 720 hours. So, replacing it somewhere between 150 and 720 print hours?
For anyone looking to use a PT100, here is a good source of information. LINK
I'm still on the hunt for a source of the thermocouple here in the US. I can find sources in Europe and China, but shipping is as much or more than the cost of the thermocouple, not to mention the lead time.
The cable chains (at least in my Formbot kit) came longer than needed. I had to remove links to obtain the proper length. Looks like you are making good progress.
I'm building a Sealthburner for my V2.4R2. EBB36 which includes the Max31865. I'm using the Dragon HF hotend with a 3mm hole for thermocouple. For those of you with this setup, what and where did you purchase the thermocouple? I can find PT1000, but am having a problem finding somewhere to...
Solder is not a good idea as it is brittle and will break in short order. The best for a temp fix, splice it with a crimp type connector with heat shrink over it. Leave enough wire length to avoid stress as much as possible.
To permanently fix, replace the whole wire with a new run. No...
