Switchwire mainboard recommendation

Hi,

Im in the startup of converting my Ender 3v2 into a Switchwire.

I would like to get some recommendations from you pros out there.

Which mainboard is the go to now in 2025, and stepperdrivers to match that?

I'm going to run a Stealthburner with a Knomi v2 and i'm looking into getting CANBUS or USB board to communicate with the rest of the setup.

i'm ok running standalone RPI or an onboard one like CM4. Doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance!

BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 but you can run any of the popular boards out there with less steppers populated i.e Octopus with 2209's

Pretty much anything with minimum 4 steppers, 24 volts that has the capacity to run your bed current draw as the prusa (or ender 3 etc) beds are 24V.

If you want to run a budget build you could simply flash the Creality board (assume it is a 4.2.2) with klipper and start from there with a separate Pi.

My Switchwire runs the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 with a Pi Zero 2 W with a standard Stealthburner toolhead - runs ok. The Knomi adds weight to your toolhead and the Stealthburner is already a heavy beast - get a 5" or 7" screen on the front instead.

I got the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 on the way. Your setup sounds good. I have a RPI 3b and a 7" screen lying around. So that would be perfect. Thanks for your help, mate!
