Enderwire: question about the 310mm X extrusion

Hi!
I'm just going to print all needed parts for the Enderwire andI have a question. I'm reading that a chop is required on the X extrusion (it should be 310mm).
Is this chop really needed in your opinion? is it possible, instead, to modify some parts to be able to use the Ender 3 original 320mm extrusion? What would happen If I didn't chop the X extrusion?
