Understanding Klipper's LCD menu system

This is not the post you're hoping for. I have no idea how to work the menus -- they feel like an afterthought.

I have the bone-stock menu setup. I want to add "Pause" if the machine is running (to call my PAUSE macro), or a very top-level "Resume" and "Cancel Print" (RESUME / CANCEL respectively) if it's not printing. Where should I start?

I believe those are under SD-print if You didn't change anything.
